About the Opportunity  

Covello, a Psomas company, has opportunities for experienced Construction Inspectors for various water/wastewater projects throughout the bay area and central coast regions of California.  This is an exciting opportunity to be an integral member of an established team that has successfully delivered many water, wastewater and recycled water projects in the region. As a member of our construction inspection team you will:

  • Provide daily site inspections to verify compliance with approved plans, specification and codes
  • Coordinate in the field with clients/owners, consultants, contractors, designers and regulatory agencies
  • Measure and record pay quantities
  • Track and record disputed work and/or change order work
  • Assist with monthly pay estimates
  • Labor compliance
  • Prepare daily reports
  • Review the Contractor's schedule
  • Assist the Contractor in planning for and scheduling of required inspections
  • Coordinate 3rd-party special material testing inspections
  • Review and provide input on potential change order issues
  • Maintain project records
  • Take daily photographs

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5 years' experience required in civil infrastructure construction and water/wastewater treatment facilities.
  • Familiarity with the public works contracting process a plus.
  • Strong communication and documentation skills.
  • Ability to interpret construction plans and specifications to confirm compliance of the construction work.
  • Requires a working knowledge with Microsoft Office Word and Excel.
  • Inspection certificates (ICC, NACE, Welding, etc.) is preferred.
  • Must be able to work on-site in a construction trailer or building where exposure to heights, ability to walk on uneven surfaces, stand, climb ladders, crawl, stoop, enter confined spaces, tolerate heat, cold, dirt, odors, wastewater, chemicals and other construction hazards that may exist.
