Description: Psomas is seeking a pro-active technical Project Engineer who has a thorough understanding of how to complete tasks while also managing assignments in order to produce a quality project on time for the client.  The successful candidate will assist PM's with delivery of multiple projects for transportation and public works, and Psomas is known for having some of the most interesting projects in town.  In our culture, individuals with excellent communication and technical skills who have the desire to coach/mentor staff thrive.  The successful candidate is able to work well both independently and with fellow team members to provide all necessary design, direction, supervision, coordination, and follow-up on the work to ensure quality standards are met, efficiency levels are maintained, and clients are satisfied.

Duties: Responsible for organizing and executing the technical quality and coordination of a broad range of project assignments requiring extensive knowledge of transportation and public works projects.  Supervises the technical work of other engineers, designers and coordinates with subcontractors and agencies for final drawings, submittals, and specifications for approval.  Design efforts in conventional aspects of transportation engineering, which may include street and highway design, drainage, traffic control design, signage, striping, grading and research & analysis.  Represents Psomas and client to agencies and contractors.

 Qualifications:

  • Must have a minimum of 6 years of experience in roadway and highway design projects
  • Must have a Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or related discipline and professional engineer (PE) registration in CA
  • Must have a strong technical knowledge with proven experience in preparing technical reports, designs, specification, and computations
  • Must have knowledge in computer software utilized in the transportation industry; MicroStation, AutoCAD and InRoads 
  • Must have familiarity with local municipality design and procedures, regulatory compliance and agency coordination
  • Thorough understanding concept of schedule, budget, and scope of services
  • Interest in sustainable designs and concepts.
  • Current knowledge of methods & development in engineering design
